Solid team defence, shut out goaltending and a red hot powerplay spelled success for the Moncton Wildcats as they smothered the Halifax Mooseheads 3-0, in front of 5,756 at the Coliseum.

Another strong performance from Yannick Veilleux  lead the Cats to their 16^th win of the season.

Veilleux scored twice and assisted on another, Dmitri Jaskin netted the other as the Wildcats scored twice on the powerplay, while outshotting the Mooseheads 42-25. Allain Saulnier and Jonathon Nabonne each chipped in with a pair of assists.

Halifax loses, in regulation, for just the 3^rd time in 25 games this season . The Wildcats win their 3^rd straight, while snapping the Mooseheads  4 game win streak.

Alex Dubeau was solid in his battle versus Halifax’s Zac Fucale. For Dubeau it’s his 2^nd shutout of the season.

So an excellent weekend for the Wildcats, beating 2 teams( Halifax, Baie-Comeau)who are  ahead of them in the standings, outscoring them 9-5, outshooting them 78-50 and scoring 5 times on the powerplay.  

Wildcats are off till Friday, when the host the Victoriaville Tigers at 7pm at the Coliseum
