Billeting in Moncton
“HOME - A CONGENIAL, COMFORTING, REJUVENATING ENVIRONMENT.” THE MONCTON WILDCATS ORGANIZATION BELIEVES A BILLET HOME IS A PLACE OF COMFORT AND CARING FILLED WITH MARITIME HOSPITALITY - TRULY, A HOME AWAY FROM HOME.
For most new members of the Wildcats, this could be their first time away from family and friends. It is of paramount importance that the transition from home to Moncton is made with many careful considerations.
Billet Families are a key element in the success and dreams of new Wildcats players. Following an interview process conducted by members of the Wildcats staff, there is a security check and orientation program.
When accepted, a Billet Family provides shelter, nutritional family-type meals, emotional support and most importantly, a sense of family.
A player can be with the team and his Billet Family from 1 to 5 years. Three years is considered normal unless a trade takes place. During this time bonding takes place among the entire family. In turn, lasting relationships are forged. Regular contact between former players and their billet family is common. Contact and visits between billet and players families takes place frequently.
Billet families are a very important aspect of the “off-ice” plan that builds the success of a winning Wildcats team.
