Reading is Wild

Students at four Metro Moncton grade schools are getting Wild for Reading again this year! The Moncton Wildcats are partnering with OMISTA Credit Union, and the Times and Transcript and have recently launched the OMISTA Credit Union Reading is Wild program.

The 12 week program is about encouraging reading and literacy and the participating schools are aiming to read a total of 46, 000 books this year!

This year’s participating schools are:

  • Lewisville Middle School Reading Goal: 5,000
  • Queen Elizabeth School Reading Goal: 11,000
  •  Riverview Middle School Reading Goal: 15,000
  • École Sainte-Thérèse Reading Goal: 15, 000

Over the past two weeks select Moncton Wildcats players along with game-day staff took to the schools to launch the program. At the school assemblies the students at the schools learned about the program, and had the opportunity to meet and ask questions to the Wildcat players in attendance. Check out the wildcats Facebook page to see pictures of the events!

We will be updating the Wildcats website as well as Facebook page with the four schools OMISTA Credit Union Reader of the Week and update the barometer with the schools reading progress throughout the program.

After the New Year the four schools will be invited to a Wildcats Hockey Game as a reward for their hard work and dedication to the OMISTA Credit Union Reading is Wild Program.

We are confident that all the participating schools will not only reach their reading goals but surpass them and make for a great OMISTA Credit Union Reading is Wild Program!
